These notes of pass Passover services
are provided as a reference to how we conduct the Passover. While we keep a basic service as practiced by
many Church of God groups, an effort is made each year to emphasize a different
aspect of the sacrifice of our Savior and its importance to us as His
disciples.
Passover 1999
Last Passover in 20 century as man counts time.
1968 years since Jesus was crucified for our sins.
Six baptized participants last year. Three this year. Thousands keeping elsewhere.
Isa 51:1-2(LB) Don’t worry about being so small. Abraham and Sarah only one when called, but God bless and made them great and many.
Isa 53:1-12 Jesus, a man of sorrows and despised. Bore our grieves and died for us.
Mat 26:37-43 Jesus had a tremendous burden to bear and it weighted Him down. Disciples not any help and fell asleep.
Mark 14:27,50 Jesus foretold that disciple would forsake Him. And they all did.
SO DO WE WHEN WE SIN.
Mark 15:34 At the last moment, when Jesus bore the sins of all mankind, He said, My God, My God, why have your forsaken me?
Heb 12:2 For the joy set before Him, Jesus endured the crucifixion.
John 16:20-22 World rejoices while we in sorrow. But our sorrow to be turned to joy.
(standard Passover foot washing, partaking of bread and wine, readings from John and a final hymn.)

When we think of the Passover
we think of the sacrifice and suffering of Jesus for our sins. And this is well and good. But what about God the
Father? What type of suffering
did He go thru? Reminded
that as parents how it hurts us to see our children suffer. Or as children grown to
late adulthood, to see our parents ageing, approaching the end of their lives
and maybe suffering in the process.
Also remember when we sin, we sin against God the Father! How
pleased and happy God the Father must have been to have His Son back when Jesus
presented Himself to Father after His resurrection.
Gen 22 Abraham willingness to sacrifice Isaac an example of
Father and Jesus
John 3:16 God
so loved the world that He gave
His only Son. The
needs of the many outweigh the One.
Rom 8:31-34 Father
did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all
Rom 5:6-11 Christ died for us while we were
sinners. Justified by
His blood, saved by His life.
Rom 3:23-25 For all have
sinned. (LB, vs. 25) For God presented
Jesus as the sacrifice for sin.
(Eze 18:4 All souls belong to Father.
When we sin, we incur the death penalty)
(Isa 59:2 Our sins separate us from God -- the Father (and Jesus too,
of course).)

don’t, Father will not forgive us our sins
(Matt 6:15;18:35 ditto)
Luke 23:34 Father, forgive these people because they don’t know what
they are doing
(Matt 27:45, 51 Darkness, earthquake,, ripping of
temple veil.) We
forget the agony Father went thru watching His Son suffer and die. This a small
expression of His emotions.
Luke 23:44-46 Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!
1 Cor 11:23-32 Examine
